Song Preparation

You will be prepped on your 60-90 second cuts + full songs for your “go-to” songs (or, the ones you will likely use for pre-screens and most in person auditions). Additional requirements (back-up songs, pop songs, etc.) will be prepped once your “go-tos” are up on their feet.

Before the start of your FIRST Song Preparation lesson:

  • You should complete a Song Selection Lesson. Your song choices shouldn’t be solidified by your first Song Preparation lesson, but you should have a running list of songs you are considering.

  • Your sheet music should be in your “Songs” Folder on Google Drive for all potential material.

  • Have your “Master Spreadsheet” in your Google Drive Folder filled out with all necessary audition requirements

  • A paper and pen

  • Be sure your Zoom Audio settings are set to: “Original Sound for Musicians: ON

Number Of Lessons:

  • Please refer to the recommended number of lessons laid out in your Assigned Coaches/Suggested Number of Lessons sheet in your Google Drive Folder.

  • We do recommend working in tandem with your personal Vocal Coach or doubling down on lessons with your MCA Coach to receive vocal training as well if you do not currently study with anyone.

  • If the suggested number of lessons will not be doable due to limited time, resources or other logistical factors - don’t sweat it! We’ll discuss this in our first lesson together and make a game plan together. It’s super important to try to share honestly and accurately the frequency of lessons you will be able to pursue so coaches can plan accordingly to make sure they optimize their time with you.

  • Typically, 1-2 weeks between each lesson is appropriate when scheduling to allow for time to process, rehearse and come to the next lesson with new discoveries and questions! Of course, we’ll discuss your specific needs in our first lesson.
