Kristen Katsimpas is currently an assistant professor of theater at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee specializing in jazz dance and has been the choreographer for the Youth Musical Theater Program since 2016. Katsimpas is also on faculty at Emerson College, where she teaches ballet and jazz in the Musical Theater Department. She has served as the co-lead instructor for the Emerson Pre-College Program and is a co-advisor for Emerson Dance Company (EDC).
As a performer, Katsimpas was most recently a member and soloist of BoSoma Dance Company, directed by Katherine Hooper. While with the company, she performed works by Hooper, Irada Djelassi, and Lindsey Leduc, all over New England. Through BoSoma Dance Company, she has participated in many community outreach events and educational workshops within local schools, and has given performances designed to connect with and give back to the community through dance. She also has performed with both Hyperbole Dance, under the direction of Nikki Sell, and Jazz Inc., under the direction of Stephanie Heroux.
She has been a guest teacher and choreographer at many intensives across the country, including the Boston Conservatory Musical Theater Acting Intensive (MTAI), the Boston Ballet Summer Intensive, BoSoma School of Dance Intensive, and the Ohana Arts Musical Theater Summer Program on Oahu in Hawaii.
Katsimpas is an alumnus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, holding a B.F.A. in dance, and was a recipient of the Chancellor’s Talent Award. She is currently working towards her master’s degree in education for dance teaching at the Royal Academy of Dance in London.
